Listing Boosts vs. Renewals
Listing Boosts
What they are: Temporary visibility enhancements
Duration: 1, 3, or 7 days
Effect: Listing appears in featured sections and top of category pages
Best for: Quick sale needs or slow-moving listings
Renewals
What they are: Extension of listing duration
Duration: 30+ days depending on package
Effect: Resets listing age and improves position in chronological sorting
Best for: Items that haven't sold yet but don't need urgent attention
Relisting vs. Renewing
Renewing
Preserves listing history and statistics
Maintains all inquiries and offers
Keeps the same listing ID
Doesn't count as a new listing against your limit
Relisting (Creating a New Listing)
Creates a brand new listing with a new ID
Resets all statistics and removes old inquiries
Allows for major changes in listing details
Counts against your active listing limit
May require new review process
Best Practices
When to Renew
When your item hasn't sold but the listing is getting views
When you've received inquiries but no successful sale
If you've updated the item's condition or details
If market conditions have changed but your price is still competitive
When to Create a New Listing
If you want to change the category or fundamental details
If the previous listing received little to no interest
If you've significantly changed the price or condition
If you've taken completely new photos
Optimizing Renewals
To get the most from your renewals:
Update photos or add new ones
Refresh the description with new details
Adjust the price if appropriate
Respond to previous inquiries to rekindle interest
Choose optimal timing (weekday mornings often perform best)
Managing Multiple Listings
Bulk Renewal Options
For sellers with multiple listings:
Go to "My Listings" > "Bulk Actions"

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does renewing my listing put it back at the top of search results?
A: Yes, renewing resets the listing's age for chronological sorting. However, other factors like relevance and feature status also affect placement.
Q: If I edit my listing, does that extend its duration?
A: No, editing doesn't extend the duration. Only formal renewal or upgrading to a paid listing extends the duration.
Q: What happens if I use all my free listings and renewals?
A: You'll need to purchase a paid listing package to list additional items or renew existing listings beyond the free allowance.
Q: Can I renew a listing that sold to sell another identical item?
A: It's better to create a new listing if selling another identical item, as this ensures accurate inventory tracking and a clean history for the new transaction.
Q: Can I downgrade a paid listing to a free listing when renewing?
A: No, paid listings can only be renewed as paid listings. However, you can let it expire and create a new free listing if you have free listing slots available.
Q: Is there a limit to how many times I can renew a listing?
A: Free listings can be renewed up to 3 times. Paid listings can be renewed indefinitely as long as you pay for the renewal or have available package slots.
